What makes an Ocracoke oyster so special? Not only are O’ Cocker Oysters special because they are a family owned farm like us. But also, Ocracoke is part of the Tar-Pamlico river basin and receives a rich flow of nutrients. They are also far out enough in the Ocean (20 miles) that they do not receive the negative aspects of being at the end of a long waterway (pollution). Mixed with ocean water from the incoming tide our oysters grow in a supercharged high salinity environment (the highest salinity on the east coast) where the water quality is superb!
